Welcome
Mieke Dekens,

I am Happy that you have seen this!!! That means you know where to find me anytime you would like to. I hope to hear from you directly. I love you with all my heart!!! God Bless You!!!
This is my boat. Her name is Daydreamer and, she's a 1976 Lancer 25'

This is her shown at anchor in Frenchy's Cove w/ West Anacapa Island in the background.

Here she is in the same spot, but seen from the island.

This place is beautiful and full of wildlife. Some, like this Cormorant, are friendly...

while others, like this Pelican are more standoffish.
The islands themselves are beautiful, like 40 foot high Arch Rock at the easternmost end of East Anacapa Island and,...

the Tidepools ( at low tide ) on the back side of Middle and West Anacapa Islands.

Sometimes you will run into Dolphins on your way to or from the islands.
Since I have owned the Daydreamer, I have had occasion to take guests out with me.

This is my friend C.C. Skusa and his son Caleb.

This is my buddy Peter Lebow during a day sail on the 4th of July.

This is my friend Reid Freeman in a little rougher water four days later.
My friend Michael Graham is along with Reid and I that day. He is seen here in front of Arch Rock

Approaching Santa Cruz Island, April 2002.

Sheer cliffs of Santa Cruz, largest of the channel Islands. This island is so beautiful, I am going to let the pictures do their own narration.

This is sunset in the Santa Barbara Channel.

Steve sits on deck as we head out of Channel Islands Harbor.

Steve's girlfriend, Dia, looks out to sea.

California Sea Lions. These gals are always out here. They will jump up and sunbathe on just about anything.

Some guests prefer to relax down below. Steve reads and dozes.
Dia relaxes with a beer.

Here are James and his diving buddies, Zephro and Max. It was cold and blustery that day. They did not get to dive, it was too rough.

The cold must have gotten to Zephro and Max here. Yeah, that's me in the middle.

She's a good boat. Here she is at her old dock in Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard, California, about 60 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

From this angle you can see the Ocean Pacific Yacht Sales though whom I purchased this boat.

My buddy Frank Rieber and I had a great sail out to Anacapa and back on July 6, 2003.

Here you see Anacapa Island from the easternmost point to the west. You are actually looking at three islands lined up in a row, with West Anacapa Island just barely visible above the other two.

I started out at 2 a.m. on July 13, 2003 with my friend Peter to change to a closer marina in San Pedro, the Port of L.A. This is just off Malibu at about 5:30 a.m. while heading to San Pedro.
Just about an hour later the clouds closed in more and the sea looked almost like glass.

That afternoon we saw the Palos Verdes Peninsula...
got through the kelp and saw the Port of L.A. as we rounded Point Fermin...

...while behind us
there is a regatta in full glory.

Here, friend David Jacobs and his son, Seven, cruise around in the dingy.

Seven really liked the water.

The marina can be
fun even when your not sailing.
Just sitting down on the keel.

Heading to Catalina, Labor Day weekend, 2004, I spotted this Square Rig Topsail Brigantine.

It is difficult to get clear pictures out there with the movement and the distances involved.

Daydreamer anchored in Hamilton Cove, off Catalina. All the moorings were occupied.

Here, about a mile from Avalon proper, the swell makes for a little bumpy sleeping, but I got through the weekend o.k.

It is very pleasant here.

At the top of this picture, you can see the derricks and cranes of the Port of Los Angeles, San Pedro, behind the breakwater.

Approaching San Pedro, I run alongside of a Gaff Rigged Ketch, superimposed upon two giant container ships. It is a very busy port.

She is a fine weekend boat. I'll add more as it happens.
On Labor Day, 2007 Daydreamer and I hosted my beautiful girlfirend, Kate, her two daughters,
Alison and Melanie, as well as Alison's boyfriend Garrison and, Mel's friend Nega. We went
from San Pedro down to Long Beach, just across the channel from the Queen Mary.
Alison and Garrison
Nega and Melanie
Kate and I all having lunch at the Parker's Lighthouse Restaurant
It did get a little cold on the way back, even though we had a long heatwave that week.
Garrison was busy keeping Alison warm
Melanie was in her usual good spirits
Nega seems to be enjoying herself while Mel mugs in the background
The usual suspects were hanging out on the bouys all over the harbor. California
Sea Lions are everywhere. It was a great day.
So far, according to the GPS, Daydreamer has logged over 5300 nautical miles since I bought her six and a half years ago. I really wish I had more time to sail. I will publish more as I continue to explore. I would love for more of my friends to schedule a trip with me. I am docked in the Cabrillo Marina in San Pedro, now. I moved her down to be closer to Catalina. Catalina is a great destination with full services, restaurants, natural settings, shopping. A vacation resort 20 miles away from my slip. I am trying to go out more and would if I had people who wanted to go with me. If you wish to come along contact me at:
On Saturday, October 6, 2007 nine of us from the Church of the Valley in Van Nuys, California and three other churches went to Tijuana, Mexico to build two homes for the less fortunate people there. The blue house in the background was not there when we arrived that morning, but it was when we left. An amazing feeling, let me tell you. Here is the group, minus me, as I was taking the picture. These homes are not much compared to our standards, but they are adequate for these people to live in. They were so happy when we gave them the keys.
